The Luftwaffe over the Bristol area - known Luftwaffe targets in the Bristol area
Intelligence gathering was undertaken by the Operations Staff of the Luftwaffe's 5 Abteilung. The material they collected to compile their Target Files included not only photographs but maps, which in the case of Britain were suitably re-marked extracts from pre-war Ordnance Survey publications! Each target was also allocated both a group and an individual number prefixed by GB indicating Grossbritannien.
